Crowns are another dental restoration option. They differ from composite fillings/inlays/onlays, as dental crowns encase the entire visible aspect of a tooth. When cemented into place, a dental crown fully covers the tooth above the gum line. The other dental restorations are just fill in or cover over a portion of the tooth. Essentially, a dental crown becomes the new outer surface of the tooth.

Also called “dental caps”, crowns help rebuild decayed or broken teeth, strengthen teeth, and enhance the appearance of teeth. They can be made from porcelain/ceramic, gold alloy, or a combination of both.
